Grumpy Dungeon

Come in, then. Wipe your feet.

Coming to Steam · Early Access 2026

Three ornate dungeon cards in a dark emerald hall, the middle one glowing gold

It is not a dungeon. It is the dungeon.

Something has gone wrong in the old place, and its little glowing wisps — every last one of them — need rescuing. Fight through its halls. Save its spirits. Regrow its garden.

A painted forest overworld with winding paths, rivers, a wisp nest and a watchtower

The collection

Collect all the wisps

The dungeon is full of little glowing spirits worth saving. Every biome keeps its own species, and the deepest halls hide the strangest of them. The collection is the goal, the progress bar, and the entire point.

Mid-combat in a forest room, the player's wisp companion fighting at their side

The kit

Your items are alive

Every wisp you rescue can live in your kit — sword, dash, hammer or spit — bending each move toward its own element. And your favourite doesn't ride in your pocket: it flies at your side and fights beside you.

The company

The dungeon never shuts up

Your constant companion is the building itself. Giant eyes in the walls, running commentary on your route, your build, and exactly how many times it has had to save you. The grudge file is extensive.

The Old Growth in its plagued third phase — a blackened treant king looming over the sickened court, trunk pillars and telegraph rings across the boards

The deep ends

Big giant bosses

At the bottom of every biome, something enormous is waiting. Take on towering bosses with the wisps you've raised — the true test of a build.

Meet the wisps

A few of the forest's own. Dozens more are hiding — the dungeon counts every one.

Grow them. Evolve them.

Wisps come home to the garden. Plant them, tend them, raise them into stronger selves — then evolve them into stranger ones. A fallen wisp turns to essence; plant that too, and the garden grows it back.

Get your gear back

Fall in the deep and what you were carrying doesn't just vanish — something down there claims it, wields it, and waits for you. Hunt your own loadout through the dungeon and take it back.

Also inside: pocket overworlds with their own little stories · treasure · fishing · mini-games · a hub that comes back to life as the wisps come home.

Be there when the doors open

Leave an email and the wishlist link arrives the day the Steam page goes live — then one letter when the dungeon opens its doors. Nothing else, ever.
